The Growth of Online Hiring
Accepting despairing unemployment news, as doggedly reported in the media, isn’t easy — especially when the internet hosts an innumerable amount of employment sites full of employers looking for qualified job candidates. Even the plethora of employment opportunities at popular networking sites make these reports questionable and out of touch.
We have, after all, thousands of employers perusing the likes of RentACoder, LinkedIn, and Twitter in pursuit of developing lucrative working relationships. And it’s not just the sole entrepreneur taking advantage of these channels. National corporations and regional companies are seeking online workers too.
Boosting Employment Numbers
If you let the media tell it however, employment opportunities are scarcer than a tuba playing puppy dog! The truth is, over the last 10 years, the internet has become the premier location for boosting employment numbers for both part-time and full-time independent contractors. Turning to the internet as a viable employment resource has become the norm, and so has hiring online workers.
According to a June 3rd report from Reuters, “A monthly gauge of online labor demand in the United States dipped modestly in May from April, but rose compared with a year earlier, suggesting strong springtime recruitment…”
It’s Inevitably Essential
We don’t mean to suggest unemployment isn’t a cold, hard reality in this country. What we’re hinting at instead, is that we’re entering the midst of a unique transition. Hard working employees, once available after a 45 minute drive from God knows where, are in the process of transitioning their skills to the online environment – if they haven’t already done so.
The reason why is simple. Computer and internet use in both our business and personal lives have become inevitably essential. We do almost all of our networking, communicating, buying, and selling through the internet now, so there’s no reason to believe hiring is or ever will be the exception. Online hiring is quickly on its way to becoming 2nd nature.
Come meet your employees.
