Signs of Infection

It isn’t easy detecting a spyware infection. As we mentioned in another post, a computer behaving badly isn’t always a sign of a virus.

Then again, it could be. So we thought it would be helpful if we provided some signs of a spyware infection in the event that you’re concerned about your PC’s performance.

Sign 1

An infected computer will take f-o-r-e-v-e-r to load when restarting and your browser or mouse may move and act as though someone else is using it. At times, control of your own computer may seems as if it has been passed onto a ghost or invisible nerd!

Sign 2

If you discover that you’re suddenly responsible for paying the credit card bill of things that you didn’t buy, spyware may have stolen your credit card number and passed it on to a hacker.

Sign 3

Another sign of spyware infection is software that no longer works the way that it used to. As an example, an Excel spreadsheet may miscalculate simple functions or all of your desktop icons may change to bizarre images.

If you suspect your computer has been “bitten,” then download and install our anti-spyware software. After all, ‘Tis better to err on the side of safety. Current events can be found in our Computer Virus News section.

Pretty wild to think that floppies were the primary vector of personal computer virus infection before the dawn of the internets
