Outsourcing Training (Book Excerpts)
Curious about outsourcing training? Our book, “Outsourcing Through RentACoder” explains it all. Below are a few selected snippets that describe its importance and why you, as an outsourcer, should care.
For details, head on over to this page and order the book. Outsourcing Through RentACoder is a 418 page step-by-step user guide for entrepreneurs who want to reduce their workload and increase productivity at the same time.
Excerpts:
- This type of contractor is generally new to RentACoder. S/He’s ranked low and s/he might have just a few simple jobs under his/her belt. S/He’s beginning to build an impressive buyer clientele and s/he may even do a little on-the-job training. (page 32)
- Include the number of skilled employees, the number of employees in training, the number of employees hired to support those employees (secretaries, cafeteria staff, janitors, security, human resources), and so on and so forth. (page 76)
- Readjust costs where necessary so that costs consume no more than 100% of your total budget. You could for example, reduce training costs by vetting highly experienced coders only. (page 84)
- Another set of risks are those associated with selecting a RentACoder contractor. The skill set of coders are wide and varied. Some are highly experienced while others are… oh let’s say, “coders-in-training.” (page 100)
- Jobs that require things like special equipment or custom assembly are better left to in-house employees who’ve been trained to perform them. (They’re also less costly since they don’t require re-training expenses.) (page 104)
- Bid quotes are supposed to cover things like wages, training, building space, equipment, delivery, taxes, Internet access costs, etc. (page 216)
- You should note that this program isn’t exclusive to RentACoder. The program is used as a pre-employment testing and training service in fact, by the likes of Ericsson, Convergys, GAP, IKEA and Deltek too. (page 243)
- Here, you may have to haggle over the things that would otherwise provide a smooth start: the purchase of equipment, the transfer of sensitive materials, staff introductions and training, schedules, etc. (page 266)
- Preparation tasks (like employee training or formal introductions to other co-workers and a company’s top customers) take time, but they cannot be included as a project’s palette of labor tasks. (page 292)
- If that’s not impressive, consider the fact that over 25% of these hard working Americans are trained professionals. Over 10% work or have worked in middle management while over 7% work/worked in upper management. (page 404)
