Make Time For PC Security Maintenance

We wouldn’t be 100% truthful if we said that computer maintenance is an effortless feat. Sure, the software that we use doesn’t require any physical exertion on our part, but even we have to admit that it’s grunge work for just one computer.

Just imagine if you were responsible for maintaining a network of a hundred computers or more! The thing about computer maintenance is that it’s important. It’s a necessary evil that must be dealt with whether we like it or not. Skipping such an important step of PC care only leaves us vulnerable to security issues that we may not be prepared to handle.

If we skip an anti-virus update or two for example, and then inadvertently visit the wrong website – guess what… We’ve just compromised the security of our system (or the systems of our co-workers if we’re networked on the job).

Let’s say you don’t feel like backing up the registry just yet and let’s say that you believe everything will be just fine until you have time to get to it. Well since we’re imagining things, let’s say that your boss suddenly schedules you for an out-of-town IT trade show.

Guess what… when you returned, you found out that one of your co-workers installed a spyware program that re-wrote critical keys of your server’s registry. Without a back up, you’re going to have one heck of a time trying to restore it to its original state.

Are you starting to get the picture? Don’t create instances for trouble by skipping essential maintenance tasks.
