Ideas for an Advertising Blog
The goal of this blog will be to document your progress through solving an advertising problem. Blogs that solve a problem are the most visited blogs on the Internet! The blog will store 33 pages (or posts), and each page will address the following issues below:
Page 1: The Battle
Describe your battle with an advertising problem. Examples:
- The cost of advertising
- Ethical considerations in advertising
- Advertising to relevant target markets
- Using subliminal advertising
- Job opportunities in advertising
- Effective advertising techniques
- Deceptive advertising in the media
- Compiling advertising mailing lists
- Realistic advertising goals
- Determining an appropriate advertising budget
- Using an advertising agency
- Internet vs television vs print vs radio advertising
- Accuracy in advertising
- Finding the best advertising channels
- Failing advertising campaigns
- Advertising via social media
Begin with the first onset of the problem to the state it’s in now. Go on to describe how this battle consumed your time, energy, and resources (funds) and explain how the battle has affected you emotionally and physically. Compare this impact to those you know who don’t suffer from an advertising problem.
When finished, explain why you’re creating this type of blog in the first place and why you think your readers will benefit.
Page 2: Past Efforts

List all the solutions you tried in the past, and then describe the results of each.
Include the names and measures of all applications and then describe the results of each. If you avoided some proposed solutions, explain why.
Page 3: Suspected Triggers
List all the events suspected of triggering the problem. To confirm your suspicions, make a commitment to monitor and document your daily events for an entire month in an online calendar. Note the results of each potential trigger.

Describe the advertising program you’re using to solve the problem today in detail. Include the what, when, where, why, and how. Write about the advertising program’s application and warnings, and then describe what your next plan of action will be should the advertising program prove to cause more problems than solutions.
Then as you did before, make a commitment to monitor and document the the process for an entire month. Only this time, include the results of the advertising program in the calendar created above. Add photos or videos to create a visual, progressive timeline. The content of each calendar page could contain something like this:

Be honest and comment on your commitment to your advertising program. And include events that stood in your way of progress each day.

Don’t forget to supplement your advertising blog with interactive tools. You could:
- Provide a list of links to helpful advertising websites
- Include advertising videos
- Conduct a survey about your advertising issue
- Link to software designed to monitor your advertising’s situation
- Point to relevant advertising books on Amazon

At the end of your advertising program, describe the final result, and then post questions that continue to be unanswered. Why or why didn’t the advertising program work? What part of your commitment played a role? Will you try the same advertising program again? If not, why? What part of the advertising program is still unclear? What further work, research or experimentation could be done? What do current trends suggest?
