What to Expect
Via OOH: Musicians play several related instruments and perform in several musical styles. Instrumental musicians, for example, may play in a symphony orchestra, rock group, or jazz combo. Some play a variety of string, brass, woodwind, or percussion instruments or electronic synthesizers. Singers use their knowledge of voice production, melody, and harmony to interpret music and text in rock, pop, folk, opera, rap, or country.
What to Pay
The musician or singer with an impressive portfolio of work should earn about $30.22 an hour1. That’s an hourly savings of $9.15 compared to the musician or singer who is hired as a full-time employee with benefits2.
