TTS: Our Proofreading Secret Weapon

If you haven’t already, register a username for yourself so you can discuss this topic in our Outsourcing Testing forum.

At Just Outsourcing, we do more providing than outsourcing. Still, we can’t help but empathize with clients who are in the position of having to proofread large amounts of outsourced content. At any time, we could write 50 – 100 pieces of content at a time. And though we bust our butts making sure that content is error free, we know not all of our clients read every single word we write.

We know that because our work is generally accepted and paid for within 24 hours of handing it over.

Just think about the task at hand. Could you adequately proofread 100 articles in 24 hours? Could anybody? We couldn’t, and chances are you couldn’t either. Just thinking about proofreading 100 articles in such a short amount of time, in fact, is mentally tiring and enough temptation to ignore this critical task. Fortunately there’s a secret weapon you can use to quicken the process, and it’s called TTS software.

TTS Software

TTS software, or text to speech software, is the proofreader’s secret weapon against processing tens of thousands of words. It’s an effective tool in the war against typos, misspellings, and grammar mishaps that our eyes tend to ignore because it appeals to our ears instead of our sight.

For reasons beyond the scope of this article, writing mistakes stick out like a sore thumb when they’re spoken and heard. That’s why we’re often told to read material out loud. Well, that’s one of the reasons… The other reason has to do with slowing down the brain so that it will actually pay attention to every written word. Reading material out loud is fine if you’re proofreading a small number of articles, like three or five. But 100?

Nuh uh.

Enter TextAloud TTS Software

Catch crazy bloopers with your ears using TTS Software, like NextUp’s TextAloud. This is what we use to make sure our text matches whatever it is our brains are trying to communicate. And it’s super easy to use, too.

tts software, textaloud, text aloud

TextAloud is Text to Speech software for the Windows PC that converts your text from MS Word Documents, Emails, Web Pages and PDF Files into natural-sounding speech.

TextAloud converts text into spoken words with a pleasant, natural sounding human voice. You simply load up the files that you want TextAloud to read (aloud), push the play button, and then listen. That’s all there is to it. Of course, the software does a lot more than just read text. It converts text to mp3 files, it downloads and reads news out loud, and it does a bunch of other jazz like that. But that’s not why we’re recommending it.

We’re recommending this software because it helps you identify spelling and grammar errors that plain old reading might miss. So download TextAloud here. Give it a spin and listen to some of the writing that you outsourced on the web. You might be surprised at what your eyes failed to catch!
