Illegal Outsourcing (Book Excerpts)

If you haven’t already, register a username for yourself so you can discuss this topic in our Book Discussion forum.

Curious about what’s illegal in outsourcing? Our book, “Outsourcing Through RentACoder” explains it all. Below are a few selected snippets that describe its importance and why you, as an outsourcer, should care. For details, head on over to this page and order the book. Then complement what you find here with the content in our growing outsourcing articles library (the book’s ‘online extension’).

Outsourcing Through RentACoder (now, vWorker) is a 418 page step-by-step user guide for entrepreneurs who want to reduce their workload and increase productivity at the same time.

Excerpts:

  • First things first. Know that working outside of an employer-employee relationship doesn’t permit illegal activity. But it doesn’t exactly jive with what’s enforced in a contract either. (page 51)
  • It’s already structured to protect participants from fraud and other illegal activities. (page 84)
  • No RentACoder (now, vWorker) member may post illegal, fraudulent, abusive, defamatory, or obscene content. Nor may any member post copyrighted material or material that contains a virus or other disruptive component. (page 125)
  • As of late, inappropriate requests include those that engage in illegal activities and spamming. In addition, requests cannot be edited unless they’re significantly flawed. (page 177)
  • In order to conduct business in some foreign countries, companies may be forced to fund (often illegal) activities that have nothing to do with the business’s industry at all. (page 261)
  • So does RentACoder — which is why requests like the example one above could be denied by the site’s staff or removed after a coder reports it as an illegal project. (page 365)
  • Referring back to our section on Bad, Bad Bid Requests, you must never ever ever encourage a coder to perform an illegal activity. (page 369)
  • Ambiguous bid requests are jobs that don’t provide enough details, and it’s completely unreasonable to expect a coder to carry out a half-baked idea. It’s also why RentACoder calls these ambiguous bid requests illegal. (page 376)

Order Outsourcing Through RentACoder:

Outsourcing Through RentACoder (now, vWorker) is a 418 page, 7.44″ x 9.68″ paperback book, fully illustrated and filled with everything you could possibly need to successfully outsource your tasks the first time.

Inside, you’ll find a slew of outsourcing know-how, over a dozen online checklists, worksheets, and more. It also introduces an outsourcing roadmap exclusive to the RentACoder (now, vWorker) website. Order it here.
