Curious about RentACoder’s stance on a coder’s work history? Our book, “Outsourcing Through RentACoder” describes it all. Below are a few selected snippets that describe its importance and why you, as an outsourcer, should care.
For details, head on over to this page and order the book. Outsourcing Through RentACoder is a 418 page step-by-step user guide for entrepreneurs who want to reduce their workload and increase productivity at the same time.
Excerpts:
- On just one screen, you can access three pages of critical information about each potential coder: General Information, Work History, and Expert Ratings. (page 228)
- The information within these fields is nice to know for future opportunities, but what you really want to know is on the second page of the database: The Coder’s Work History. (page 232)
- The work history takes precedence over almost everything else because it puts recent skills in plain view for all to see. More importantly, it places feedback about those skills in plain view as well. (page 232)
- While you may doubt a coder’s claim of C++ programming proficiency as stated on his/her resume, you cannot deny the fact that the same coder successfully compiled a functioning email program in C++ as reported on his/her work history. (page 233)
- Illustration of RentACoder’s Coder Work History Record (page 233)
- A coder’s work history not only lists all the projects completed and uncompleted – it additionally shows how much buyers liked or disliked the coder’s work. (page 233)
- Beware that there might be more ratings than what you see on this page. Scroll down to the bottom of the Work History page and look for a statement that indicates you’re only looking at the 35 most recent ratings. Then click the link to access all ratings and continue your evaluation. (page 234)
- Look for bid requests that read “REPOST” and then check out the reason for the repost (if given). Click the buyer’s name to reach his/her profile, click the corresponding Work History tab, and then look for the original bid request.
Click the original bid request’s link and then take a gander at all the bids the job attracted. Which coder did the buyer originally pick? How much did that coder bid? (page 365)
